Local History is tremendously important. In a fast changing world and in an area of London where demographics change so fast, our history can help ground our community and create a real sense of place.
One of the reasons I (Matt) settled in the area was because of the sense of history: the wonderful mix of late 19th century town house styles with post-war terraces, ultra-modern new builds and 20th century conversions.
We also have a number of precious local monuments. The Metropolitan Cattle Trough on Nightingale Road by the Finsbury Gardens, the New River Course through the Area, the Nightingale Road Alms Houses, Myddleton Road, the War Memorial on Bounds Green Road and lots more.
I’m always looking for more old images to display on this site so please get in touch if you have anything or you see anything which might be of interest.
