GO SEE NEW MYDDLETON ROAD HISTORY DISPLAY!

Caroline Simpson & Cllr Matt CookeMyddleton Road History Exhibition Sets up Shop in the Red Sea (Supermarket!)

Earlier this week I helped set up local Historian and Chair of the Bowes Park Community Association Caroline Simpson’s new exhibition on the History of Myddleton Road, N22.

From the building of the New River in the 17TH Century by Myddleton Road’s namesake, Goldsmith, Self-taught Engineer and MP Sir Hugo Myddelton to the recently established Myddleton Road Action Group which is bringing investment and improvements to the street this new exhibition in the window of the Red Sea Supermarket on Myddleton Road (on the junction with Marlborough Road) is brilliantly informative and fascinating.

The picture is of Caroline and me next to the new exhibition.

Do you have a story about this remarkable road?

Send them in to me at boundsgreenhome@btinternet.com or comment using the comment box below.

Note a particularly fine moustache in the back row!

We wonder where they trained, where they lived in Bowes Park/Bounds Green and whether any relatives still live in the area!?

When we find gems of local history like this we’ll always try and post them here and if local people either know any information on the things displayed here, have photos you want to share or just want to comment – you’re very welcome to e-mail in to boundsgreenhome@btinternet.com or use one of the comment boxes all over this site.

  WORKING HARD IN BOUNDS GREEN

   CLAMPING IN BROWNLOW ROAD

Over the last few months I have received a number of complaints from residents and even those from further afield on the issue of the company SANGO Security Ltd who are clamping cars on the Latham Court access Road on Brownlow Road beside Bounds Green Station, N22.

I have now written twice to the Securities Licensing Authority who have responsibility for licensing and enforcing the conditions of licensing for this sort of company – I have yet to hear back.

Whilst the activity of clamping on Private Property (and this little stretch, sadly, is private property) the companies do have to conform to certain standards; i.e. wearing badges, providing reciepts and other conditions. My understanding of the situation in this case (based on the accounts of victims of this action) is that the company is likely to be in breach of several of these conditions.

As I have yet to hear back from the SIA (!) even after all this time, and considering several more residents have written to me since my original hard copy letter, I have now e-mailed the SIA with more information and repeating my original complaint on your behalf.

I thought you would like to know this, but also, I would encourage you to fill out the brief online form on the SIA website to register your own experience - you can find this here:  http://www.the-sia.org.uk/home/enforcement/reporting/vehicle_immobilising/reporting_form_vi.htm

You might also like to write to the Company responsible, they are registered as of last October with Companies House at the following address:

SANGO SECURITIES INDUSTRY LIMITED
JOSEPH ANDERSON BEADLE & CO
2ND FLOOR
196 HIGH ROAD
LONDON
N22 8HH

Company No. 06402706

Lastly, you may have seen the piece on the online edition of the Haringey Advertiser: http://www.muswellhilltimes.co.uk/display.var.2077992.0.hampered_by_clampers.php

I am currently trying to ensure that this gets as much coverage as possible in the local press.
